The GIANTS
Sandwich Light Sculptures
Holiday lights have become a very big tradition, the bigger the better, and Sandwich is no exception. Sandwich is the birthplace and home of a unique family of GIANT light sculptures that appear during the Holiday season. The majority of GIANTS are sponsored by local businesses. They represent and highlight what these businesses are.
An example of this is the first GIANT which was born in 1998 by its creator Michael Magyar from The Glass Studio on Cape Cod, in East Sandwich. Moto-San the Glassblower stands as tall as the Glass Studio building where he is displayed roadside, with hundreds of lights covering his steel rebar skeleton.
Since that first year the number of GIANTS have grown. They have expanded down 6A, spill onto Main St and stand tall on the backroads of Sandwich, along with the cranberry bog behind us at Scenic Roots, as well as a few more sprinkled in other towns down Cape, bringing the total to 60 GIANTS!
