Here at Scenic Roots, we are here to help you. Owned and operated by the Kutil family since 1986, Scenic Roots has become a business you can trust with your lawn, garden, and pest problems.
We pride ourselves on friendly customer service and the expert knowledge of every one of our employees. We have worked hard over the last several years to find the highest quality nursery stock and garden products.
We carry all your garden and nursery basics, but we also have an expanded nursery yard to display unusual or hard-to-find items. If there is something your yard needs that we do not have, please ask us–we would love to order it for you! We want to educate and inspire you to make your lives easier so you can enjoy your time off in your yards instead of continuously working in them.

Our story
The roots of Scenic Roots go back more than three decades. The Kutil family grew up a stone’s throw across the Cape Cod Canal in the town of Wareham. In 1986 they purchased the Sandwich Agway on Route 6A to run as the family business. Initially, it remained a very cut-and-dried gardening center as the family decided ‘if it wasn’t broken, don’t fix it.’ While Donna and Jeff’s parents ran the day-to-day operations, they would help out by sweeping the floors, bagging birdseed, pulling weeds, and pinching mums, working weekends, holidays, and school vacations to help when needed. It was free labor.
After graduating high school, Donna decided to work elsewhere for the experience. It was during this time away that she realized her love of gardening. She moved home after college to help her father and brother run the store while continuing her education with horticultural classes.
In 2002, Donna and Jeff took over the business and things began to change. The gardening center, which dealt with feed and grain, lawn care, and had a small nursery, was rechristened Scenic Roots Garden Center in 2010. Donna and Jeff focus as much on the overall experience as on the products they carry.
Scenic Roots has a very relaxed atmosphere where people can come in, feel comfortable, and not be afraid to ask questions. The Garden Center was intentionally set up to have mostly grass in the nursery yard and a huge shade tree in the middle.
The casual rapport Donna and Jeff have with their customers is genuine with a focus on education over making sales. Donna believes that if the customer has the proper knowledge, they will be successful at whatever gardening project they attempt. This success builds trust and confidence in the people at Scenic Roots which in turn will lead to a loyal following.
